Biography

Laverne Anderson Puryear was born on 7 January 1917 in Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana, the son of Grover Puyear (1888-1972) and Melinda Ann Brown (1887-1988). [1] [2]

Laverne Anderson Puryear enlisted in the United States Army on 15 April 1941 in Fort Benjamin Harrison, for the during of World War II. [3]
He was single, with no dependents, had 4-year high school education, and was a semi-skilled automotive worker. [3]

Laverne Anderson Puryear married Lenora Marie Chapman (1916-1985), daughter of Patton Warner Chapman (1895-1917) and Meada Ina Ellis (1896-1952), on 9 March 1946 in Hancock County, Indiana. [4]
