FOUNDER OF PYLESVILLE, MARYLAND

Nathan Pyle, son of David Pyle and Hannah, born in London Grove township, Chester, Pennsylvania; he married Grace Cope 5-30-1804 at the Eastland Meeting house in Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania[1]

They had the following children:

1-David Pyle (April 17 1805 Oxford PA) married Mary Lewin on March 25 1829, daughter of John and Lydia Lewin
2-Elizabeth Pyle (Dec 1 1806 PA-Oct 13 1880) christened in 1807 at Eastland Meeting in Chester County; married Joel Harry, son of John Harry and Merab Yarnall
3-John C. Pyle (April 25 1809 Pylesville MD) married Mary Kinsey of Lancaster on December 18 1835, daughter of Seth and Rachel Kinsey
4-Hannah N. Pyle (July 12 1812 Pylesville MD) married Samuel D. Reynolds of Cecil County on June 16 1843, son of Samuel and Mary Reynolds
5-Nathan Pyle, JR. (Nov 3 1814 Pylesville MD-Dec 15 1819 Pylesville MD)
6-Margaret Ann Pyle (Sept 18 1816 Pylesville MD-Jan 23 1898 Pylesville MD) married Joseph Warner (1810-1845) on December 19 1838, son of Silas and Sarah Warner
7-Nathan Pyle, Jr. (Dec 16 1824 Pylesville MD) married Margaret Coates of Chester County on December 4 1851, daughter of George and Martha Coates

The couple lived in Oxford, Chester County, Pennsylvania for two years after they were married. When Nathan's father died the couple went to live with Nathan's uncle Amos in Lancaster County so Nathan could learn the trade of miller. Grace's father had a forge which was left to David Cope, Jr when David Sr died in 1806. Nathan was the will's executor. The Pyles in Chester County had a mill and also a ford in Pennsbury Township named after them.[2]

Nathan and Grace moved to Pyles Mill and established a village. They later moved to Deer Creek Meeting.[2]
