Only child of Abner Pyle, Jr. and Mary Hogue; married Barbara Pyle, his cousin. I believe their youngest child, Hiley, took the surname of his stepfather, which was Onstott. Andrew's children were probably estranged from their father's family due to a lawsuit begun by their grandfather Pyle after their father's death concerning land in Madison County, Illinois, that their grandfather had deeded to their father.
Obituary for Andrew H.: Duquoin Tribune, Duquoin, Perry County, Illinois, 25 March 1875, page 1, column 5: We are this week called upon again to perform the unpleasant task of chronicling the death of another of our esteemed and worthy citizens. The subject of our remarks this week is Mr. A. H. Pyle, who had been confined to his house since about the first of last January, and who passed from this life on Sunday evening last, at twenty-five minutes past 9 o'clock. Mr. Pyle was in his thirty-third year and had been complaining of ill health for some months prior to the time when he was taken so much worse as to compel him to give up all business and remain in his room. Few of his daily associates knew of his failing health, and when he was taken ill, none of us thought that his sickness would terminate in death. After a few week's illness, he seemed to rally and was again able to walk about the house, but his recovery was of short duration, as he was soon again stricken down, since which time he had gradually wasted away until the evening of the 21st, when the little life that was left him passed away, and he is no more. During his prolonged sickness he was a great sufferer, and although he had good medical attendants and the kindest and most careful nursing, all was of no avail, for death had claimed him as a victim, and human skill or power could not save him. He was a native of this county and had spent the greater part of his life here, and by his good social qualities and honorable business relations had won many warm and true friends, who during his sickness extended all aid in their power to comfort him and assist his family in their great burden of care. The funeral services, which occurred at 2 o'clock on Tuesday, were attended by a large circle of friends and relatives, who most deeply sympathized with his wife and family relations. His remains were interred in the cemetery about four miles southwest of our city.
Andrew was born in 1841. He was the son of Abner Pyle and Mary Hogue. He passed away in 1875.
