Biography

Beattie "Attie" Pyles was born in Texas on 22 August 1889 to Jonathon Monroe Pyles and Virginia Drinkard. She married John Phillip Martin on 14 July 1908; they had three children together. Beattie died on 7 June 1946 in Lubbock, Texas.^[1][2][3] She is buried in the City of Lubbock Cemetery.^[4]

1940: Beattie Martin is enumerated as wife of Head of Household; she is 50 years old and lives with her husband and 3 children. The family owns the home, which is valued at $2000 and is designated as a farm. She is a homemaker, and the highest level of schooling she completed was the third year of high school.^[8]

Obituary

Mrs. Martin Dies At Home Here Friday

Mrs. Beattie Martin, 56, of 2009 Avenue J, resident of Lubbock for nine years, died at home about 3:30 a. m. Friday.

Funeral services will be held at 5 p. m. today at Bryan McDonald and Son funeral home chapel with Raymond C. Keley, Church of Christ minister, officiating. Burial will be in Lubbock cemetery.

Survivors include the husband, John P. Martin; and two daughters, Mrs. Ruby Glazner of 615 Hub Homes and Mrs. Bessie Healy, of Rockaway Beach, Calif.^[9]
