Married Asenath Gallon at Tendring, Essex, England in December, 1841, ref # 12/540. In the 1851 Census, John, aged 36 and Asenath, aged 32 at the Civil Parish, Great Oakley, Tendring, county Essex, England, had 3 children. Mary Ann Race, aged 7 years, John Race, aged 5 years and William Race, aged 2 years. ref # Household schedule number : 91 Piece: 1779, folio: 431, page number 23. John Race Snr. died between July-September, 1889 aged 74 years at Tendring, ( Registration district) inferred county ; Essex, vol 4a, page 231.
