Biography
Stephen was the son of George Ragland. He was born in Northampton County, North Carolina.[1] How long he resided in Northampton County, is unknown. He lived in:
- Marblehead, Mass. (1773-1780)
- Maine (1780-1784)
- Marblehead, Mass. (1784-1789)
- Greensville, County, VA (1789-1793)
He was a Seaman: Revolutionary War service: 21st & 10th MA Regt. (unit which became the beginnings of the U.S. Navy).
He married twice:
(1) In 1774, in Marblehead, Mass., Ann Andrews. They had a son, Stephen Jr.
(2) In 1790, in Greensville, County, Va., Mackeina McLemore. They had a daughter, Nancy.
Stephen died in 1793 in Greensville, County, Virginia.[2]
