May 30, 1923 - February 22, 2012

Mrs. Brown passed away the morning of Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the Country Care Plex in Giddings.

Esther Ida Raschke Brown was born on May 30, 1923 in Paige, Texas to August W. & Alvina M. (Pulz) Raschke. She was united in marriage to Carl A. Brown on November 2, 1947 at St. John Lutheran Church in Paige. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Ronald, Caryn & Myron. Esther was a loving and devoted homemaker who enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting and canning. She taught Sunday school at St. John Lutheran Church in Paige for 20 years and loved spending time visiting with neighbors, friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, August & Alvina Raschke; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Adolph & Louise Raschke, Arnold & Alma Raschke and Walter & Ella Raschke and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Olga & Elmer Gustafson and Laura & Alfred Kunkel.

Esther is survived by her husband of 64 years, Carl A. Brown of Paige; her three children and their spouses, Ronald & Susan Brown of Katy, Caryn & Gary Lowe of Rogers, AR and Myron & June Brown of Sugarland; six grandchildren and their spouses, Chris Brown of Katy, Brandon Brown of Fate, Dustin & Stephanie Lowe of Frisco, Jinny & Mark Kuhnel of Houston, Travis & Tara Brown of Cypress and Robyn Brown of Katy; six great grandchildren, Hailey Brown of Tucson, Ryan Brown of Cypress, Carter Kuhnel of Houston, Caleb Kuhnel of Houston, Brandon Lowe of Frisco and Brooklyn Lowe of Frisco; three step grandchildren and their spouses, Sheila & Paul Grossman of Katy, Fred & Samantha English of Katy and Christopher & Candice English of Katy as well as several step great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at St. John Lutheran Church in Paige with Rev. Michael Werner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held on Friday, February 24, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.

Serving as pallbearers will be Joe Mergele, Floyd McKenzie, Travis Brown, Chris Brown, Delward Kunkel, Mark Kuhnel and Dustin Lowe.

Memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church in Paige.
