An article that appeared in The Register, provides strong evidence that Edward Rawson was the father of a daughter named Margaret who married John Woodmansey in 1658 and had a daughter by him, also named Margaret, born in 1660. Margaret, daughter of Edward, died in 1660.[1]
The evidence includes documentation of the tailor John Lake sewing several articles of clothing for Edward Rawson for "yor Daughter" Margaret. Also, Suffolk County records show that on 19 September 1654, Margaret Rawson and Rachel Awbrey were witnesses to a bond paid by William Follett of Oyster River for Edward Rawson to administer the estate of John Avery. Also, Margaret appears as a witness of the receipts of bonds on 24 July 1657 and 14 April 1658. [2]
John Lake noted that he made a wedding gown for Margaret Rawson in September 1658. In January 1659, Margaret Woodmansey witnessed a deed with Edward Rawson. Margaret Woodmansey, in 1660, appeared for the first time as a mother in Boston birth records: "Margaret, child of Mr. John & Margt. Woodmansey" was born 17 October 1660. [3]
Margaret Woodmansey, wife of John Woodmansey, died 29 December 1660.[4]
John Woodmansey married Elizabeth Carr on 1 May 1662 as his second wife.
