Samuel Rayner was born on the 15th April, 1806 in Colnbrook, Buckinghamshire, England, United Kingdom.
As an adult, Samuel was baptised at Newman Street Catholic Apostolic, St Marylebone, London, England, United Kingdom. [1]

He was well known as a landscape painter, specialising in painting the exterior and interior of buildings, churches, abbeys and old mansions. Even at the age of 15, his painting "Malmsbury Abbey" was accepted and shown in an exhibition of the Royal Academy. [2]

He married Ann Manser (1802-1890) on the 2nd October, 1824 in St George the Martyr, Queen Square, Camden, Middlesex, England. They had six children.
