Karen Razey Stanton was born in Emporium, Pennsylvania to Charles and Ruth (Husted) Razey.
Her early education was in the Emporium schools and she later graduated from Indiana State University of Indiana, Pennsylvania with a degree in Music Education and Piano Pedagogy. She continually furthered her musical knowledge with graduate studies in educational institutions and with other performers.
Her first teaching position was in Lindenhurst (Long Island), New York where she met her husband David Stanton. She later taught elementary music in the Meade, Kansas schools for eighteen years, then leaving that position to teach private piano in her home for over twenty years. She was known for her performance expertise on piano and organ, and her love of children and teaching them to play. Her teacher study guides for orchestral music which she wrote in 2004 have been translated into several languages and used by teachers around the world.
She was a person of great faith of which she believed in living the example rather than forcing it upon anyone. She passed away at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas following a nine month illness.
