The son of [[Reagan-1424]|Charles Reagan] and Nancy (Percifield) Reagan, George Reagan born in Grainger County, Tennessee[citation needed] in 1856, residing there with his family.[1] His father died in Virginia during the Civil War, in 1863; in 1870, living at home, George worked at the age of 12 as farm laborer.[2] In 1880, George and his three brothers farmed their land,[3] in a household that included his mother, his widowed paternal grandfather, Jesse Reagan, and his sister, Martha's, husband.
George married Margaret (Pillion) Reagan, the presumed daughter of John Pillion and Sarah Carter, marrying in Union, Tennessee on October 4, 1887[4] and having four known children together, only one of whom appears to have lived into adulthood. George is listed, along with his brother, James, on the 1891 Enumeration of Male Voters in Grainger, Tennessee.[5] In 1900, George and his family lived in Union County, Tennessee, residing in Civil District 3, where he worked as a day laborer.[6] Widowed, by 1910, George lived with his brother, James, in Grainger County, residing in Civil Dstrict 5, where and working as a farm laborer on James' home farm.[7]
By 1930, George lived with his daughter, Martha, and her family in Dallas, Texas.[8]He passed away in there at the age of 75[9][10] and is buried at Grapevine Cemetery in Grapevine, Texas.[11]
