Biography

Rachel Reed was born in August 1861 in Warren Twnp., Belmont Co., Ohio - probably on the farm on Leatherwood Ridge. She was born during a diphtheria epidemic that seemed to center around Leatherwood Ridge and Bethel Church. She was the daughter of Isaac Reed and Mary Price.

He began his career as a telegrapher, later became train dispatcher, train master and while at Gassaway, W. Va., Supt. of Coal and Coke R. R. Co. He was a lifelong resident of Columbus except fifteen years at Gassaway, W. Va. He returned to Columbus in 1915 and is now telegraph operator at the Union Depot. Children b. at Columbus, O.
