LESLIE W. (LES) REES Weimar Mercury, November 30, 1907, page 1Houston Chronicle Special: Bay City, Nov. 25 . — Less Reese, the fireman of the Gulf Line running between this point and Algoa, died at 8 o'clock this morning from a pistol shot wound accidentally administered by his own hand at 1 o'clock last night. The deceased was a nephew of Sam Reese, who was killed at Columbus several years ago and was for years identified with the Reese family in the Reese-Townsend feud. He participated in the Battle at Bastrop in 1897 and was with others indicted with the killing of Arthur Burford at that time. The indictments were subsequently dismissed by a San Antonio criminal court. Deceased was 35 years old and leaves a wife and four children. He had been a resident of this city for about two years and lived a quiet life here. The body is held awaiting orders from relatives for its disposition and will probably be sent to Yoakum where his father, Jim Reese, is buried.Leslie W. Rees, 3 May 1873-25 Nov 1907
