James Reid was a South Carolina colonist.

James Clancy Reid was born around 1770-1773 in the part of South Carolina that was Cherokee Territory (present-day Pickens County). His parents may have been Nathaniel Reid and Elizabeth Clayton.[1]

In about 1789, he married Mary Elizabeth Blackwood, and they made their home in Abbeville County, South Carolina.[2] Their children were:[1]

  3. James Clancy, Jr. (1796-1865)
  4. Greenberry (1796-1870)
  5. Allen (1797-1880)

  10. George W., b. 1823
  11. Alice

By 1820, the Reids were "empty-nesters."[3] James passed away around 1870 in Abbeville County, South Carolina.[1][4]
