Biography

John Reilly, son of Hugh Reilly and Jesse Cameron, was born in 1831 on Prince Edward Island. He married twice, first to Mary Smith, by whom he had two children[[1][ and secondly to Margaret Campbell[2]. By Mary Smith he had Mary and Josiah.

John and Margaret had Ada, John and Margaret "Maggie" (twins), Edith, Jesse, Priscilla, Edwin, Laura, and Rosco Septimus, though there is a thought he was an adopted child.

The Census 1881,PEI:Township 59;all born on PEI; Disciples Church, Scots origin. John,49, Farmer; Margaret,49; Mary A.,23; Ada J.,17(dressmaker); Margaret A., & John W.,15(twins); Edith L.,11; Jessie,9; Priscilla,7; Laura M.,2 years[3] Mary was still living with her father but Josiah is not there.

Marriage recorded 31 Jan 1866 (C. Irving, Surrogate). Marriage Book 8, P20 (1862-1867).Witnesses: James Simonds & Charles Burns. [4]

John Reilly's farm was in lot 59 on the Brown Creek or what is now known as the Valleyfield Creek. It sat across the creek from John Dewar Campbell's farm. John married Margaret Campbell, d/o of John D. Campbell. The home was rased and burned in the 1960's. The barn was moved to another farm after it's barn burned. It subsequently also burned.

He is buried in Lower Montague Cemetery, Kings, Prince Edward Island.
