Franz Anton Remme was born on 1 October 1823 in the Kotten-building of Erbkotten Wallenhorst (Wallenhorst No. 11) in Wallenhorst, Osnabrück, Hannover, Deutscher Bund, son of Stephan Henricus Remme (~1780–1840) and Maria Elisabeth (Wallenhorst) Remme (1796–1857).[1] His father was from a branch of the Remme zu Fiestel family line. Franz Anton Remme was baptised on 4 October 1823 in the catholic church St. Alexander in Wallenhorst.[1] His godfather was his uncle Georg Anton Wallenhorst, and his baptismal witnesses were Anton Heinrich Remme and Anna Maria Brüggemann.[1]
