He was a stonemason in UK and came with the settlers of the Colonial Assurance Co. scheme for Greenough-Irwin River district, which collapsed with the death of its chief promoter. This man (?listed as G. Rhodes). Employed a T/L tutor at "Woodbridge; Guildford in 1852 & a T/L servant in 1853. He went farming at Greenough and employed a T/L man 1866.[1]
John died on April 24, 1880 in Greenough, Colony of Western Australia, aged 70.[5][1]
