— there passed away about 7
o'clock on Friday morning a very
old resident of the lower Balonne
in Mr. William t. Richardson,
who had been -ailing for some
weeks and was being nursed at
the Metropolitan hotel hv Mrs. Tt.
J. Davison (his daughter) and
other telatives, The late Mr.
Richardson was bori, at Maitland
and was in his 74th year. He
first came on to Noondoo station
when it was owned by Jas. Broad
nigh on 50 years ago, and after
wards erected the Telegraph hotel
at Dirranbandi, when the place
was surveyed into town lots. He
was licensee ot the hotel for about
40 years, and until the erection
of new premises near the railway
ljne a few years ago, when he re
tired from public life. In the
early days the deceased for a
long period took a prominent part
in racing, and was successful in
many events at St. George, Dirrnhandi and neighbouring towns.
He was widely and popularly
known throughout the soiiiuhhmI
and had a hearty, manner whict
won him many fast friends. He
leaves two sons and five daugh
ters; The latter all being married.
The funeral, which was followed'
by a large number of friends,
took place yesterday (Friday)
afterroon.
