"Prince Priest" of pioneer days, in this region, died at 11.15 o'clock last night at the home at her daughter, Mrs. James Warner, in Patton. Mrs. Biller was one of the oldest residents of East Carroll township. Her maiden name was Richter. She was born in Baden, Germany, and came to the United States with her parents when she was about 4 years old. The family came direct to this part of the state and established a homestead in East Carroll township. Mrs. Biller lived in Cambria county ever since she came from the old country. She was the head of five generations, having nearly 100 descendents. Mrs. Biller was married twice. Her first husband was John Wirtner and they were married by Father Gallitzin seventy years ago. Father Gallitzin, called the "Priest of the Alleghenies," was the first Catholic missionary in this part of the country. He was a Russian prince and came to this country more than 1100 years ago. He conducted a mission at Loretto and founded St. Michael's church there. Only a few persons are now living who were married by the famous "Prince Priest." John Wirtner died in 1847, leaving Mrs. Wirtner and three children, who are now living. Mrs. Wirtner was married to John Biller. They lived at the old homestead in East Carroll township until Mr. Biller's death in 1888. Mrs. Biller continued to live at the old place until nine years ago, when she moved into Patton to live with her daughter.[1]
