Biography

Leonard was born in 1897. He was the son of Stephen Ricketts and Ellen Maguire. Married in 1923 to Mabel Peak. He passed away in 1965.

WEDDINGS.

At St. Cuthbert's Church, Tweed Heads, on April 14 the Rev. H. Lilley officiated at the marriage of Mr. Leonard Ricketts (youngest son of Mr. A. Ricketts and the late Mrs. Ricketts, Cooloongatta) to Miss Mabel Peak (only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Peak, Coolangatta). The bride, who was given away by her father, was gowned in ivory charmante and georgette, the court train being lined with pink georgette and ornamented with silver tissue horseshoes and orange blossoms. Her Brussels lace veil was arranged in a cap with a lattice of pearls, and she carried a bouquet of tuberoses and white dahlias. Miss Ricketts (sister of the bridegroom), who attended as brides -maid, wore a dress of pearl-grey satin beauté, with a grey and rose hat, and carried a bouquet of pink roses. Little Miss Mabel Peak (niece of the bride) acted as train bearer, and wore a petal frock of white crepe de Chine. Mr. R. Kirkwood was best man. At the conclusion of the ceremony, the guests were entertained at Bick's Kiosk. Subsequently Mr. and Mrs. Ricketts left by motor for Byron Bay, en route to Sydney and the Jenolan Caves, for the honeymoon. Mrs. Ricketts's travelling frock of navy charmante was worn with a hat of silver grey. TROVE Extract [1]
