SHIRLEY VIVA SEVERANCE LEE - Shirley Viva Severance, 76, wife of the late Earl L. Severance, Sr., died July 5, 2004, at a Lincoln hospital. She was born Nov. 28, 1927, the daughter of Searle and Frances Rideout, but was raised by her stepmother, Ethel Rideout. Shirley enjoyed gardening and flowers. Her Pug dogs were special to her. She is survived by three sons, Robert of Winslow, Earl, Jr., and Randy, both of Lee; two daughters, Linda Gowan of Old Town and Charlotte DePeter of Waterboro; a sister, Dorothy Lee of Mattawamkeag; a brother, Jimmy Rideout of Parhump, Nevada; 26 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Sandra Turner, a son, Ronald Severance, Sr., two brothers, Paul Rideout and Searle Rideout; and a sister, Vivian Vance.

Friends may call from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Thursday, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mitch Bickford officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lee. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Cancer Fund. Donations may be left at the funeral home.
