Biography

Johannes was the third child born in 1798 to Melchior and Anna Maria Ries [Bach] . He and his Father were Farmers in Werbach. His childhood sweetheart was Margaretha Baunach from the near by Village of Kleinrinderfeld, Johannus and Margaretha Baunach had a son, born in Kleinrinderfeld, 6 January 1821. Margaretha named her son Franz Baunach, he was Christened at the RC Church Kleinrinderfeld on 7 Janury 1821. Johannes Ries and Margaretha Baunach were Married at the RC Church Werbach on 28 May 1821. Johannes and Margaretha went on to have eight Ries Children, Maria Barbara Ries 1822, Maria Barbara 1823, Michael 1825, Katharina 1827, Anna Maria 1831, Valentin 1834, Helena 1837, Georg Joseph 1840. Johannes Ries died at Werbach August 28, 1869. Margaretha died in Werbach 25 December 1860. Franz Baunach / Ries and his wife, Margaretha Juliana, [Spinner] and several other German Families, such as Nicholaus Kinbacher left Werbach and made their way to Cuxhaven, and on 26 November 1854, Boarded the Barque "Marbs" which arrived in Moreton Bay, Australia on 22 March 1855.
