Francis was born on 7 March 1761 at Macon, Warren County, North Carolina.2 He was the son of Francis B Riggan Sr and Mary Pegram.
Francis served in the military on 10 February 1781 at Warren County, North Carolina, in the militia (drafted).A Private under Capt. Jordan Harris and Col.James Read ,in the newly created Light Horse Regiment. Sick during the battle at Guilford Court house,guarded the baggage wagons. And was made a Corporal.[1] Francis served in the military on 1 July 1781 at Warren County, North Carolina, in the militia (enlisted).A Private under Capt.Nathan Turner and LT. Col. William Brickell( Franklin Regiment).Source states he was born 3/7/1764 Bute,North Carolina.(Which became Warren, North Carolina.)[2]
His wife made a claim for pension. In the source is a hand written letter that states Francis's birthday enlistment date and death date. And that Littleton F. Riggan(his son) was the executor of the solders estate.[3]
Marriages
Francis B Riggan Jr and John Riggan appeared on the census of 1800 at Warren County, North Carolina.4 Francis registered to pay taxes in 1814 at Snow District, Warren County, North Carolina.
In Francis B Riggan Sr's will, Francis was named by Francis to handle his estate on 14 May 1816 at Warren County, North Carolina.
He made a will on 25 October 1839 at Warren County, North Carolina. Recorded in Book 39 Page 238, proved Nov, 1846.
