Mrs. Charlotte (Lottie) Shaffer, 89, of Rt. 1, Burnettsville, died at 2:00 p.m. Sunday at a Logansport Hospital.

Born September 5, 1877, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of William and Josephine Downs Riggle. Her marriage on Nov. 25, 1893, was to Arthur (Tom) Shaffer, who died in 1952.

A lifetime resident of the Burnettsville area, Mrs. Shaffer and her husband operated a store at Lockport for many years. She was a member of, the Delphi Methodist Church.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Sarah J. Hufford, Mrs. Josephine Coble, Mrs. Kathryn Shaffer and Mrs. Isabelle Frye, all of Rt. 1, Burnettsville, and Mrs. Margaret Green of Rt. 3, Delphi; two sons, Charles of Rt. 1, Burnettsville and Lewis of Delphi; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Sullivan - Lloyd Funeral Home in Delphi. Rev. David Abel officiated and burial was in the Rockfield IOOF Cemetery.
