Biography

Floyd was born September 13, 1897 and died in January, 1962. He is the son and last born child of James Righter and Sarah Green. He died at his home and his wife, Emma, was living at this time. Floyd was a retired C&O Railroad engineer. He was buried at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.

Floyd registered for World War I draft on June 5, 1918 and was listed as blue eyes, dark brown hair and no disabilities.

With the transition from steam to diesel, Floyd left the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad, moved daughter Wilma and wife Emma to Bakersfield, CA. He drove semis out there until seriously injured during a traffic accident. After recover they returned to Ohio where Floyd rejoined the C&O as a diesel engineer. During his entire time with the C&O, he worked out of the Parsons Yard on the south end of Columbus.

Floyd was also a Freemason joining through Westgate Lodge in the Hilltop of Columbus.
