DNA
Paternal relationship is confirmed through Y-chromosome DNA testing. Michael Richey, FTDNA kit #108706, and his 7th cousin, Daryl Dean Richey Sr, FTDNA kit #183535, 3rd great-grandson of Moses Dekalb Richey, match at a Genetic Distance of 2 steps on 37 markers thereby confirming their direct paternal lines back to their MRCA, James Richey. FTDNA indicates that the probability the two share a common ancestor within the last 8 generations is 50.68% given that the two did not share a common ancestor in the last 6 generations (Without the input of 6 generations of known descent w/o a common ancestor, the number is 72.17%).
