Biography

George Ritchie was born on 3 November 1769 to Charles Ritchie, a sailor in Port Glasgow, and Janet Lindsay. He was baptized on the 5th. ^[1]

George Ritchie married Marion Ralston on 3 July1795 in Renfrew, having booked their names for proclamation on 19 June. ^[2]

Marion Ritchie, the lawful daughter of George Ritchie and Marion Ralston was born in Renfrew on 8 April 1806 and baptised on 15 April. ^[3]

In the record of the death of his daughter Marion (Ritchie) McLardy in 1886 Marion's father is referred to as George Ritchie, Coal Hill Clerk (deceased). Statutory registers Deaths 646/3 691 1886 Deaths in the District of Partick in the County of Lanark Page 231 Record number 691.
