Biography

John F. Ritter, Jr. was born on June 6, 1925, in Nevada, Missouri[1].

On April 7, 1930, he was enumerated in the US Census in Nevada, Missouri, where his family—he, his parents, brother, and his grandfather—lived at 329 East Ashland Road. He had not yet started attending school[2].

In April 1940, he was enumerated in the US Census in Nevada, Missouri, where his family—he, his parents, and his two brothers—lived at 329 East Ashland Road. They had all lived there in 1935, as well. He was attending school that spring[3].

He graduated Nevada High School on May 28, 1943[4].

John entered the US Navy on October 25, 1943[5]. He received his discharge in May 1946 and was released on May 12, 1946[6].

John married Anne Frances Zeiser on November 27, 1947, in Valley Park, Missouri[7].

He worked as a circuit designer. He worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad[8].

On April 10, 1950, he was enumerated in the US Census in Valley Park, Missouri, where he and his wife lived at 205A Lookout Trail—an apartment within his wife's parents' house, number 205. He was working on a signal gang for a private railroad company, working 40 hours a week and earning $2800 a year. It was noted that he had served in World War II[9].

John died of a myocardial infarction on July 16, 1970, at Missouri Pacific Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, where he had been undergoing treatment for several days.[10].

He was buried at St. Peter's Cemetery in Washington, Missouri on July 20, 1970[11].
