Joe G Rivas was born on 14 Aug 1924 in Texas. His parents are Mariano Rivas and Dolores Guajardo.

Joe married Velma Hernandez. From this union they had the following children: Cynthia, Roy, Joey, Mary Louise, and Maria.

Joe enlisted in military service on 07 Sep 1943 at Fort Sam Houston, Bexar County, Texas, United States. He was married, had one year of high school education and his civilian occupation was as tinsmith, coppersmith, and sheet metal worker. His serial number was 38556241.

Joe was a longtime Mason, a Veteran of the United States Army Air Corps, a past board member of Edgewood School District, a past Optimist Club member and he helped found the Edgewood Pony and Colt Baseball League.

Joe passed away on 03 Feb 2004, at the age of 79, in San Antonio, Bexar County, Texas. Funeral services was under the direction of Roy Akers Funeral Home. On Thursday, 5 Feb 2004 at 10:00 am visitation began at Roy Akers and a rosary was recited at 7:00 PM.
