Biography
Emma Elizabeth was born in 1878. Her birth was registered in Middlesbrough and her mother's maiden name is listed as Mason, but should be Bason. [1]
Emma's father William had a Wife, Elizabeth but took her daughter (his step daughter) Agnes as his lover and had a family with her. The Census returns claim either Elizabeth or Agnes was William's wife. I've assumes Agnes is Emma Elizabeth's mother because firstly Elizabeth was too old and secondly in 1911 William and Agnes claim to have been married since about 1873.
In 1891 Emma was living with her family in Linthorpe, Middlesbrough. Her father William was an ironworker. Although 'wife' Elizabeth, who had been blind since birth, was given the age 43, she was actually 63. Emma's actual mother, Agnes was listed as a daughter of William, she was actually his step daughter. [2] (are you still with me?)
In 1899 Emma married welshman Rees Morris. Their marriage was registered in Middlesbrough. [3]
In 1911 Emma and Rees were living at 17 Enfield St Middlesbro On Tees Yorkshire with 5 children and Rees's father David Morris. The couple had been married 11 years and had 6 children although 1 had died. Rees was a Steel Smelter. [4] Rees died aged 63 in 1939.
In 1942 Emma Elizabeth married again, to Frederick McGill. Their marriage was registered in Middlesbrough. [5]
Emma died aged 79 in 1957. Her death was registered in Middlesbrough. [6]
