Martha was born in 1889 in Texas. She married Samuel M. Bruce, a widow, in 1908, in Texas. He was a school teacher. She gave birth their son, Samuel, in 1915. The family moved to Washington when Sam, Jr. was ten. Her husband died in 1927 and she remarried Henry Davis in 1928.[1] Her son, Sam, was a Tuskegee airman who was killed in action in Italy in 1944. She passed away in 1972.

The wedding march was played by Mrs. Frederic Bruce, who also sang, 'O Promise Me". the bride was attended by Mrs. J.H. Carter and Mrs. Blanche Gaston. The best man was Sergeant Wylie Hipshur of Seattle. Those assisting in the reception were Mesdames E.H. Dupree, Ray Gibson, T. Carter, Hattie Dawson, Fred Chew, L. Allen and B. Brown. The happy couple will make thier home in Seattle.
