Death and Legacy
A William Roberts wrote a will on 9 Dec 1742 in Kent Co., Maryland; probate was 13 Jan 1742/3. His death likely would have been in 1742. In his will William identifies a wife Mary, sons Thomas and William (of age at 18), and a brother James. He gave Thomas the dwelling plantation (pt. of "Dean's Adventures", pt of "Long Acres" and 36 acres bought by his father from Michael Miller.

There were a number of persons named William Roberts in Maryland during this time period, and they can be easily confused.
Gus Skordas reports 7 persons named William Roberts who were awarded property between 1665 and 1678 in his "Early Settlers of Maryland." Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Co, 1968, p392.
Robert Barnes reports 7 marriages for William Roberts between 1704 and 1741. These were located in Kent, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Queen Anne, and Talbot Counties. Marriage to Mary is not included.
Coldham reports no land grants to a William Roberts in the period 1701-1730, but in second volume, 1731-1750, reports 4 land grants; one could have been to this William because its patent date was before his will's probate date but It was not mentioned in his will; another one was patented after his death.:
