Biography

Matilda Emmeline Robinette was born in 1828 in Athens, Ohio, United States, daughter of Amon Robinett (1778–1872) and Lucinda Unknown (~1808– ).

Emmeline (15) married William Chatfield Sickler (39) (born on October 22, 1804 in Beekman, Dutchess, New York, United States; son of Jacob Sickler and Hannah Rachel Chatfield) on June 10, 1844 in Clark, Holt, MO.^[1] Their daughter was Martha Ann Sickler (1854–1939).

In 1880, Mathilda Ziegler (51), was a wife, Keeps House, in the household of Wm. Ziegler (75) in Clay, Atchison, Missouri, USA. ^[2]

Emmeline died on June 29, 1894 in Rockport, Atchison, aged 65. She was buried in Greenhill Cemetery, Rock Port, Atchison County, Missouri.^[3]

Obituary

Death of Mrs. Sickler

Mrs. Matilda Sickler died of lung disease, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Levi Bailey, June 29th, 1894. She had been a sufferer from the disease about two years. Funeral on Saturday June 30th, from the Rock Port Christian Church --sermon by the writer.

Mrs. Sickler was born in Ohio, and was 66 years old at the time of her death. She came to Atchison County, Missouri, in 1842, She was the widow of William Sickler who died in 1883. She united with the Christian Church in Rock Port in 1892 and lived a devoted Christian life till the death angel summoned he to join the Church triumphant.

A short time before her death she exclaimed "Glory to God! I am willing to go!" Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.

She leaves five sons and three daughters to mourn her loss besides two step-sons, Mr. Miles Sickler of Rock Port, and another in Wisconsin. The Lord help them to serve and worship their mother's God and to meet her in the deathless land. M. McFarland.
