• John Frederick Roach was born in 27 Apr 1829, the son of James Roach and Phoebe Foster of Aylesford, Nova Scotia^[1]
• On 31 Oct 1858, he married Hannah Freeman, the daughter of Zoeth Freeman and Charlotte Parker of Harmony, Nova Scotia^[2], and they had children^{[3] [4]}, including:

1. Arthur Freeman, b. 5 Jan 1861, Clarence, Annapolis Co., N.S. d. 1932
2. Maynard Parker, b. 21 Jun 1862, Clarence, Annapolis Co., d. 29 May 1904, Worcester, Worcester, MA
