John Rockett was born on April 16, 1761 in Virginia, the son of Richard Rockett and Mary Abernathy Rockett
John married Sarah Abernathy January 27, 1783 in Lincoln County, North Carolina.[1] They had at least the following children:
James Rockett
Nancy (Rockett) Abernathy and
Middleton Rockett
Urban Rockett
While residing in Edgefield County, South Carolina, John enlisted in February 1778 in Captain Carter's Company, Colonel Purvis' South Carolina Regiment and was a First Sergeant in Captain Maxfield's South Carolina Company. John Rockett participated in the Battle of Eutaw Springs and was discharged in September 1781, John was granted a pension November 10, 1834 while a resident of Lincoln County, North Carolina.[2]
John died on March 11, 1848 in Burke County, North Carolina, United States.[3][4][5]
