Elsie was born in 1909 in Ayr municipality, north of Jansen, Saskatchewan. She was the daughter of Emil Rode and Emma Egler. She married James Arthur Doidge of the Copeland district on 30 January 1935 in Jansen, SK. They farmed in the Copeland area. They had eleven children. Elsie passed away while visiting and helping her daughter Bev in 1970 in Barrie, Ontario. Elsie was 60 years old. Elsie was buried in Copeland Cemetery, south of Dafoe, Saskatchewan.
