Biography

William Robert Rogers was the seventh child of Aaron Rogers and Nancy Upchurch. He was born in Albemarle, Stanley County, North Carolina, on June 29, 1860 and died March 27, 1949.

Aaron Rogers died in Arkansas in 1880 from wounds suffered in the Civil War. Their other children were:

(1) Susannah R. (2) Sarah A. (3) Jacob Isaac (4) Abram A. (5) Reuben C. (6) Matthew Wesley (7) Andrew Jackson.

Jacob Isaac and Andrew Jackson also brought their families to Sweetwater.

William Robert Rogers married Mary Josephine Rhea in Marshall Prairie, Boone County, Arkansas, September 16, 1883, and moved with their families to Lorena in McLennan County, Texas.

On December 20, 1896, the Rogers' and their family arrived in Sweetwater to live their lives. They had six children:

(1) William Robert, Jr. (2) Hugh Rhea (3) Lora China (4) Lethia Ivy (5) Ruby Rhea (6) Elfie Josephine

Mr. Rogers farmed with his brother, Jake, on land near Lake Trammell for a number of years and on other farms in and around Sweetwater. Mr. and Mrs. Rogers are buried in Sweetwater Cemetery.
