Henrietta was born in 1808, the youngest child of Armistead and Susanna (Jouett) Rogers, in Sumner County, Tennessee. Her parents had moved there from Caswell County, North Carolina, in 1795.
Tennessee is where William Hester, the son of Robert and Susannah (Garner) Hester, met and eventually married Henrietta, in around 1830.
William and Henrietta would have the following children while living in Montgomery County, Tennessee:
James Garner Hester (1831–1923)
Susan Jane (Hester) Northington (1833–1909)
Mary Louise (Hester) Fox (1836–1885)
Robert A. Hester (1840– )
Abner Hester (1841– )
Eliza Jane (Hester) Tuck (1844–1900)
The family moved north to make Lafayette, in Christian County, Kentucky their home in 1846.
William was a merchant and a very extensive farmer and tobacco grower to support his family while Henrietta raised the children and kept the house. She would live until around 1874 when she died at about 66 years of age, while William would live another 8 years. There are no death or burial records for either Henrietta or William.
