Now that you have had a little time to try WikiTree, there are a few more features you may find useful. Ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards, including some tips on writing biographies. If you need to describe an event, an heirloom or a location relevant to your research, you may like to learn about Free Space Profiles. Lastly, sometimes you'll run into unresponsive profile managers. We have a process for resolving those unfortunate situations. VERY IMPORTANT: The more documents, sources, dates, and locations you provide on the profiles you create, the stronger your branches and our mutual global tree will be. If you don't know the correct date, please estimate using before or after.

When I was young, my family's background didn't mean much to me. I tuned out my parents when they would talk about our relatives. Now that I have my own children, I want to leave them a legacy of where they came from, so when they have their own children, they won't have to hunt and search for their roots. I'm proud to join WikiTree and help in any manner that I can.

Michael, we appreciate all the help we can get. Our GEDCOM FAQ pages may come in handy as you go through the GEDCOM process.

GEDCOMs aren't required to be a member, though. You're welcome to volunteer by manually adding to the tree so don't let getting through the GEDCOM procedure hold you back.
