Biography

Vera Ross ... [1]

Marriage Notices - 1927
COBCROFT - ROSS
ST. STEPHEN'S CHURCH, Phillip street, Sydney, was prettily decorated with white flowers, asparagus fern, and paper streamers on Saturday, February 12, when a quiet wedding was solemnised by the Rev. Hugh Paton. The contracting parties were Miss Vera Florence Ross, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. Ross, of Windsor, and Mr. John Frederick Cobcroft, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Cobcroft, of Windsor. The bride, who was given way by her brother (Mr. W. J. Ross), wore a very pretty gown of ivory morocain. Her embroidered Brussels net veil, lent by Mrs. Frank Napper, of Kensington, also formed the train, and was held in place by a narrow silver band, finished at the sides with orange blossoms. She carried a sheaf of white gladioli, orchids and apricot roses, veiled with fine maiden-hair fern. The bridesmaid (Miss Merle Ross) niece of 'the bride, wore bois-de-rose crepe de chine, trimmed with guipure lace, and picture hat to tone. Her Early Victorian posy was of blue hydrangea, delphiniums and pink rose buds, in which were intermingled ribbon and tulle. Mr. Thomas Cobcroft, junr., acted as best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at Sargent's, Ltd., Market- street, where the bride's mother, wearing black morocain and black hat, received the guests. Her posy was of red roses and tulle. Mrs. Cobcroft (the bridegroom's mother) wore navy blue morocain and a black hat. Her posy was of pink roses and tulle. The bride's travelling dress was of ashes of roses morocain, with trimmings of julpure lace and narrow velvet ribbons, with hat of crinoline to tone. The honeymoon was spent in Melbourne. Mr. and Mrs. Cobcroft's future home will be at Dubbo.
