"OBITUARY. Mrs. Ann Sumner, who passed away at Mount Torrens on Wednesday, in her ninety-third year, was born in Ireland, and arrived in South Australia in 1855, by the ship Royal Albert. She was married on December 11, 1864 to Mr. Robert Sumner (who survives her) at the residence of the Rev. Joseph Rock (Bible Christian) in Wright street, Adelaide. In April, 1865, with her husband, she proceeded to Mount Torrens, where they thenceforth resided. Mrs. Sumner retained her mental faculties unimpaired, and took keen interest in public Affairs. She was very proud of the fact that her grandson, Dr. Donald J. R. Sumner in 1922, won the Rhodes Scholarship. The family comprise Miss Jane Sumner, Messrs. S. Sumner (Peterborough), E. Sumner (Plympton), and W. W. and J. R. Sumner (Mount Torrens). (4)
