Biography

Moses was born in 1698, the son of William Rowley and Mary King. He married Jannet [Unknown] 16 May 1739 in Overwharton Parish, Stafford County, Virginia. [1][2][3]

On 16 September 1744, one Moses Rowley (Jr.) was baptized in Potomac Church, Overwharton Parish, Stafford County, VA. He was the acknowledged bastard son of Moses (b. 1698) and a servant woman.

Before 1783 Moses married Elizabeth [Unknown]. On 6 Nov 1783 Westmoreland County, Virginia, Moses and wife Elizabeth deeded to Michael Wallace; Moses was tenant in free tail? in 1776 of tract of 200 acres granted to his grandfather John by patent dated 4 Mar 1690/1 and also a tract of 150 acres purchased by said John Rowley from Richard Rosser and part of patent granted to Richard, William and John Heaberd.[4]

Slaves

On 10 May 1781 in Westmoreland County, Virginia, Moses and his sister Ann Marders of King George's County sold to Mary White, Ann's sister-in-law, of same county four negroes for £4000. (Witnessed by Laurence Balthrop, Daniel White, and William White.)[5]
