Biography

Wells Russell Rowley was born on 9 Mar 1894 in Evart, Osceola, Michigan, United States, son of Norman B. Rowley (1866 - 1951) and Cora Belle (Yorks) Button (1876 - 1932).[1] He was enumerated in the household of his father in 1900 at Osceola township Evart village (part), Osceola, Michigan.[2] For the next census, 1910, Wells was living in the household of Charles Hardt, Albion, Calhoun, Michigan.[3]

Next, in 1917-8, he can be traced by his miltary draft registration.[4]

He married Gladys G Allen in 1918.[5]

Wells served in The Great War, also known as World War I. He was a Private in the U.S. Army in Co. A 40th Infantry.[6][7]

He was enumerated on the 1920[8] United States Federal Population Schedule.

He next married Henrietta Winchell on 13 Jul 1929 in Indiana.[9] They were enumerated on the 1930 U.S. Federal Census along with their first daughter and then with two more children on the 1940 U.S. Federal Census[10] Their children were:

Wells died on 9 Mar 1970 in Newaygo, Michigan, aged 76,[11] and was buried at Fairview Cemetery, Homer, Calhoun County, Michigan.[12]
