Biography

Jean Allan was born 20 Oct 1817 to Alexander Roy and Elisabeth Keller or Keiler in Dunfermline, Fife. [1]

She married George Penman Ure 10 July 1843 in Dunfermline, Fife. "George Ure Cabinet Maker Paisley and Jane Allan Roy residing in Dunfermline gave up their names in order for proclamation of marriage."[2]

Children of the marriage were:

Nathaniel 1846 [3]
Elizabeth Keiler 1847 [4]
Georgina Roy 1850 [5]

The family moved to Canada after the 1851 Census and there is no record of Jean or her husband George in the 1861 Canada Census. In fact, their two girls - Elizabeth and Georgina are being cared for by Jean's brother Ebenezer Roy in Brantford, Ontario.[6]
