T1.4 Rudd, Louisa b. circa 1839; m. Samuel Rudd, grocer, 23 Jun 1864, Wesleyan Methodist church, St. Thomas Parish, Dublin. Samuel, a cousin, b. 1823, was son of John Rudd, a Templemore grocer. Some notations indicate Samuel was from Cloughjordan. The marriage certificate lists him as a grocer, but Sam was also reported to be a mill owner. Samuel's death certificate lists him as a shop keeper. It appears that Louisa and Samuel lived in or near Templemore although the children after Arthur Minchin are listed under Thurles records. Thurles is nine miles south of Templemore and may have been the county seat at that time. Christening records of the 13 children are all at the Roscrea Methodist Church which was twelve miles north of Templemore. Church records indicate the Rudds were very active Methodists over a 30 year period. The new Roscrea Methodist Church opened 1850 and the Templemore Rudds attended there.
Louisa and Samuel produced 13 children: George Wesley, John, Emily, Arthur Minchin, William Henry, Eleanor Louise, Charles Albert, Frederick Louis, Caroline Edith, Robert Samuel, Ethel Sarah, Florence Mary, and Caroline Ethel Sarah. Four of the last five children died in the diphtheria epidemic in 1879. Samuel died at age 76, December 30, 1899. Louisa lived 13 years longer until January 16, 1912, at age 72. The joint tombstone is in Templemore churchyard.[1]
