Biography
Pélagie was born on 5 Mar 1795 in Berthier, the daughter of Joseph Ruel and Marie Ursule Levasseur. She was baptised the same day in the parish of St-Cuthbert with Louis Jacques and Marie Louise Dauphin standing as her godparents[1].
On 19 Aug 1816 Ferdinand Mathieu, farmer, minor son of Michel Mathieu and Madeleine Réberdy, married Pélagie Rûel, adult daughter of the late Joseph Ruel and the late Marie Ursule Levasseur, in the parish of St-Cuthbert, Berthier. Witnessed for the groom by his father Michel Mathieu, and Joseph Antoine Jacques; for the bride by Charles Dumet and Louis Silvestre. None signed[2].
She passed away in 1862.
