Fanny was born in 1850. She was the daughter of Peter Rusnell and Mary Yake. She passed away in 1880. Fanny Rusnell was born in Ontario and married Joseph Fern Garbutt, they had two sons and three daughters. Fanny was killed by a falling tree and Joseph Fern was pined down by the tree. Their son Luther, eleven years old, rode about twelve miles on horseback to get help. The family lived on Manitoulin Island at this time. Fanny's daughter Mary Elizabeth who was very deaf was killed when struck by a streetcar.
