Tollis, Edward Taylor, Esq., manager of the Purified Coke Works, Wallsend, to Emily Agnes, only daughter of the late Joseph Salamé, grand daughter of the late A. Salamé, Esq., Oriental Interpreter to the Foreign Office, London. 7027[3]
The 1851 census record includes Emily's parents Joseph 30 & Jane 34, Joseph's sister, Emily 15, and his mother-in-law Fiona Menzies, a widow.
Emily arrived in Australia with her parents on board the "Daphne" in 1858. Her age was given as 11 years, in keeping with her age given in the 1851census. The actual date of her birthday was seen on the Deceased Estate Papers of Alfred Edward Taylor.
Emily Agnes, was recorded as Emily Jane by the Newcastle Morning Herald on the 25 Feb 1888, in the wedding announcement to Edward Taylor. She was the daughter of Joseph A G and Jane Caroline Salame, and the grand-daughter of the late Abraham Salame, Oriental Interpretor to the Foreign Office in London. The Marriage index record Emily's Maiden name as Salanie in error.
Emily is buried in the RC Section A, plot 110, in Sandgate Cemetery, with her mother (Jane Caroline) who is recorded only as Mrs Salame and who died 1 June 1887 (67yrs) and was was buried 3 Jun 1887. The headstone gives her name as Jane Caroline.
