Matias was the son of Schjønning Salomonsen and Kristine Lie. He perished at the dawn of the WW2 in Norway, when «Eidsvold» was sunk in Narvik Harbour.[1]
SALOMONSEN, MATIAS, dekksmann, Buksnes. Født 31. mai 1918 i Buksnes, s. av Schjønning Johan Salomonsen, f. 1886, og Kristine f. Lie, f. 1891, begge i Buksnes. Middelskole, handelsgymnas. Var betjent ved dampskipsekspedisjonen i Leknes i Lofoten. Ble innkalt til nøytralitetsvakt, og tjenestegjorde som dekksmann på p/s Eidsvold. Omkom 9. april 1940 da skipet ble torpedert i munningen av Ofotfjorden.
