Biography

John was born on 28 November 1817 in Falmouth, Cumberland, Maine, USA. He was the son of James Gardner Sampson and Mary (Bucknam) Sampson.[1]

John married in about 1807 in Falmouth, Cumberland, Maine, USA. The couple had 7 children: John Sampson, Hannah M Sampson, James William Sampson, Benjamin Bucknam Sampson, George Sampson, Clarissa Bucknam Sampson and Abigail Prince Sampson.

When John was 28 he married Elizabeth Eldredge Taber on 3 February 1846 in Fairhaven, Bristol, Massachusetts, USA. The couple had 9 children: Anne Elizabeth Sampson, Elnathan Taber Sampson, Clara Frances Sampson, John Sampson, Carrie Farwell Sampson, James Gardner Sampson, Emma Agusta Sampson, Rebecca Taber Sampson and Martha Ellen Sampson.[1][2][3]

In the 1850 census John (age 32) was living in Fairhaven, Bristol, Massachusetts, USA.[4]
